HYL is the Technology Division of Hylsamex - a totally integrated steel company. Throughout its history, technological innovation has been the key to the company's success, and HYL has been actively involved in keeping Hylsa's operating divisions at the vanguard in their respective markets.

HYL has developed and accumulated a wealth of experience in all aspects of the steelmaking production chain - from our own mines and pellet plant operations, to direct reduction, electric furnace steelmaking, rolling and finishing. In addition to our role of maintaining Hylsamex at the forefront technologically and services to steel companies around the world.

Organization

HYL is organized to efficiently attend to our customer's needs, both in the areas of direct reduction and steelmaking technologies and services.

Our personnel includes experts with extensive experience in the areas of commercialization, administration, projects and services.

HYL maintains and operates the most complete R&D facilities in the industry -including full pilot-scale facilities for pelletizing of iron ore, direct reduction, hot briquetting , pneumatic transport of hot DRI and electric furnace operation and testing. Our research laboratories are capable of any evaluation and testing required for ironmaking and steelmaking.

Our engineering department uses the most advanced equipment and procedures and is fully capable of supplying the needs of both internal and external customers.

For training and technical assistance in both direct reduction and steelmaking operations and maintenance areas, HYL maintains its International Training Center. Fully equipped classrooms with modern equipment are staffed by expert instructors in each area of specialization.
